When a person has a high self esteem he usually thinks of himself as an important person even if he was poor or unpopular. Believing that he is important this person expects a certain way of treatment from others, else he feels that people aren’t giving him the attention he deserves.
On the other hand, when a guy has low self esteem he tends to feel that he is unimportant and he only feels bad when people ignore him because it reminds him of his unimportance.
Now what happens when the guy with low self esteem suddenly become rich and famous? He will then think that he became more important, and since he became more important he will start to expect a better treatment from everyone. This in turn will lead him to ignore others who used to ignore him, to avoid answering the calls of those who didn’t use to call him often and so on.
